My father has been diagnosed with NPD posthumously; the diagnosis fits him like a glove. Thankfully, he died in 1986. He was a Pentecostal/Charismatic preacher, and finally, after driving my dear mother over the edge 'till she, herself, became mentally ill (diagnosis: Paranoid Schizophrenic) he was no longer able to pastor a church. PTL! He was a different man in public than he was at home, and I am in the process of writing a book about it all.
Through all my research and the journey into my past, (which btw, resulted in my own emotional healing), I became curious as to how many PK's there may be out there who walk the same path I did? I'm now 65, and am finally able to say I'm no longer under the bondage of memories, lies and secrets.
As Joanna Ashmun says on her research site:
"If you've had a narcissist for a parent, you are probably not afraid of dying and going to hell -- you have lived hell on Earth." She is right.
